It has been way too long since I last blogged a session, and I have had some gorgeous sessions that need to be shown off! I've known Bri since she was little, so I was so excited when she contacted me to take her senior pictures! After meeting to talk about her session, we decided that Allerton Park in Monticello would be the perfect location.
The Session
The day of her session, we met up at the studio for hair and makeup before making the trip to Monticello. The weather was incredible and the light was amazing! The bugs on the other hand...not so forgiving. Never in my life have I had as many mosquito bites as I did after that session. All of the rain that we had early in the summer made the mosquitos insane, and they were apparently starving.
If you've never been to Allerton, you are missing out. Between the lush gardens, the intricate details of the mansion, and the wandering pathways with their own treasure troves of secret statues and sculptures, Allerton is beyond incredible. Even though it's a bit off the beaten path, Allerton provides a magical backdrop for photos (or even just a quick trip out of town).
Bri was a total natural in front of the camera. Her wardrobe for the session was perfect for Allerton and she looked amazing! After we wrapped up at Allerton, she and her mom mentioned seeing the railway museum and thought that it would be the perfect fit for her final outfit. Now, normally I would never shoot on railroad tracks (Have you seen all of the stories about photo shoots gone wrong?! No thanks. Not worth it at all.), but since these tracks are only active when the museum is running them, and since the museum was closed, it was a different story. Using these beautiful old railcars for the end of her session was perfection. They were the perfect contrast to the lush gardens and stoic mansion of Allerton.
Check out some of my favorite shots from Bri's session and leave her some love!
(Oh, and if you're dying to see her whole session (because it's completely gorgeous), check out the slideshow at the end!)
